I’ve heard this phrase many times in my career, and I’ve often wondered, is it really an insult?
Hi, I’m Abbietayo a content creator, commercial model, writer, brand consultant, marketing representative, flight attendant, business owner, and biochemist.
Yes, all of that.
Because I’m someone trying to make an honest living.
Over the years, I’ve worn many hats, and each one has shaped me in a unique way. In 2022, I worked with the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR) as a scientist in the Department of Biochemistry. Even after having a publication to my name, I realized the path wasn’t financially sustainable without pursuing a master’s degree, something I couldn’t afford at the time.
So I pivoted.
I leaned into my creative side and began content creation and writing. Along the way, I ventured into commercial modeling, appearing in campaigns for Kellogg’s and Itel.
I also built a card game business, designing and selling conversation cards. Recently, I had the opportunity to create the card game included in Bella Shmurda’s PR box for his album Sanity, a full-circle moment for me.
In June 2023, I trained as a licensed flight attendant on B737 Classic and CRJ 700, 900, and 1000 aircraft. While I haven’t secured a flight role yet, aviation remains one of the most rewarding challenges I’ve taken on.
And then there’s my work in brand and influencer consulting, my very first paid client was Google Nigeria.
Sometimes, when I’m asked to “introduce myself,” I pause. Not because I’m unsure, but because my story doesn’t fit neatly into one title. I do a lot, and I balance it the best I can.
The reality is that creative work isn’t always consistent, some months are full of opportunities, others are quiet, so I seek stability where I can, like my current role as a marketing representative at KVLT a leading community in the entertainment industry.
When people say, “You do a lot,” there’s often a tone that suggests uncertainty. But I see it differently. I see it as versatility, adaptability, and resilience, the ability to create, evolve, and thrive in different environments.
If one role could pay all the bills, I’d happily focus on it. But until then, aluta continua, and I’ll keep excelling wherever I’m planted.
I’m proud to be a jack of all trades, master of none, because in truth, it’s better to be a master of none than a master of one. (But between us, I think I make really good content 😉).
I’m currently a law student and a content creator ..I’m in my final year and someone asked me if I would stop creating content or focus on law, I replied “I will do both” and the person laughed!
I felt bad at first but I realized that I can actually do both, I mean it’s my life! I’m currently writing my final year project on intellectual property as it relates to content creators in Nigeria..that is already me combining my worlds.

This is a great perspective. Too many people are comfortable with mediocrity and that's why most settle for just 1 career/job…there's quite a number of reasons asides of the financial factor…
An unpopular opinion on this subject might be that ‘if the masses would agree that a man's existence is a cycle of learning (skills inclusive), then why can't one be a jack of all trades? Is the wisdom and experience we attain, simply acquired to sound smart in rooms or to be practical with it?’
Furthermore, the the common notion “jack of all trades, master of none…” is incomplete. The rest of it says “…but oftentimes better than a master of none”
